-
Conservation status: Declared a nationally protected area as part of the marine national park system, in order to preserve its delicate coral reefs and its natural shaded areas.
LAO LADING ISLAND
KOH LAO LADING
MORE INFORMATION
Koh Lao Lading and Koh Pak Bia are part of the Koh Hong, within Than Bok Khorani National Park.
-
Koh Lao Lading: In front of the island lies a beautiful curved beach with crystal-clear waters, ideal for swimming. It serves as a mooring point for tour boats and offers a spectacular view of the beachfront, with the boats lined up and guarded by towering rocky cliffs. It is one of the most photographed spots in the area.
-
Koh Pak Bia: It has a truly distinctive character. When the tide goes out, a sandbar emerges that looks like the sea parting, allowing visitors to walk freely to a small neighboring island, also called Koh Pak Bia.
KOH HONG LAGOON
KOH HONG
KOH HONG LAGOON (THALE NAI) IN KRABI The Koh Hong Lagoon (known locally as Thale Nai) is a stunning pool of emerald water hidden inside Koh Hong, in Krabi (Thailand). The word “Hong” means “room” or “chamber” in Thai, a name inspired by the dramatic ring of limestone cliffs that completely surrounds and hides this inland sea.
MORE INFORMATION
-
Formation: It was formed over millions of years by the gradual erosion of massive limestone rock formations (karst).
-
Inner chamber: The collapse of ancient cave systems and natural weathering created a large open-air inner chamber.
-
Unique geography: It is surrounded by towering vertical cliffs, with a single narrow entrance through which boats glide in.
-
Natural shelter: Used for generations by local fishermen from southern Thailand as a safe haven from sudden storms or bad monsoon weather.
-
Livelihood: It was a traditional fishing and seasonal harvesting ground for coastal communities before the arrival of modern tourism.
-
Protected area: Incorporated as one of the crown jewels of Than Bok Khorani National Park.
-
Strict protection: It is subject to strict regulations that prohibit any commercial or physical development in order to preserve its emerald waters, mangroves and wildlife.
HONG ISLAND
TIME TO RELAX
KOH HONG: The name “Hong” translates as room or chamber in Thai, referring to the island's hidden lagoons or inner chambers. Koh Hong is famous for its natural beauty, with pristine white-sand beaches and turquoise water.
MORE INFORMATION
TIME ON THE BEACH
14:30 > Departure from Koh Hong back to our pier.
15:00 > Return to the pier: transfer by van to the hotel.
-
Beach and scenery: The island's main feature is its limestone mountain. In front of it stretches a beautiful curved sandy beach shaped like a bird in flight, which stands out for its fine white sand and crystal-clear emerald-green waters.
-
Panoramic viewpoint: At one end of the beach there is a trail with a 419-step iron staircase. From the top of the mountain you can enjoy a spectacular 360-degree panoramic view of Koh Hong beach from above, as well as the many islands scattered across the waters of Krabi and Phang-nga provinces.
-
Koh Hong Lagoon (Thale Nai): The other side of the island is home to this stunning natural wonder: a lagoon that looks like a vast hall in the middle of the sea, surrounded by high cliffs reminiscent of a volcanic crater. Its waters are an intense emerald green, ideal for swimming and for mooring boats. Boats can only enter and leave through a single channel at high tide.
